My name is Heiko Seeger, I’m married and have an adult son. We live in Neuss, very closeto lovely Düsseldorf.
I’ve been fascinated by the stock market and finance ever since I was a teenager. I made my first – rather unsuccessful – share purchase based on recommendations from the ‘Effecten-Spiegel’. Things became much more serious when I trained as a bank clerk at the Stadtsparkasse Düsseldorf. There, I had the opportunity to spend some time in securities analysis and realised early on the importance of sound research. Whilst studying business administration at the University of Cologne, I continued to explore the theoretical aspects of finance and banking, and ‘indulged’ my passion for capital markets and figures by choosing ‘Insider trading on the German stock market’ as the topic of my dissertation.
In 1997, I then moved into institutional investment and began my professional career at Provinzial Versicherung in Düsseldorf in the equities/private equity division. In the years that followed, I held senior positions in the equities and fixed-income sectors before moving in 2013 to the Pension Fund for Auditors and Certified Accountants in North Rhine-Westphalia as Managing Director of Asset Management.
I first came into contact with alpha portfolio advisors and Jochen Kleeberg early on through his academic publications and later through mandates for executive search assignments. I have always found our collaboration to be highly professional in technical terms and extremely pleasant on a personal level. Given this very positive experience with alpha and the people involved, I am all the more delighted to contribute my many years of experience and institutional client perspective to the company as a ‘Senior Advisor’.
I am driven by a strong sense of responsibility for everything I do, both in my private and professional life. Building on this, my aim is to find the best possible solutions to challenges and issues. In the world of finance, my strong affinity for numbers and data helps me in this regard. A strong team-oriented approach is also very important to me personally, as it is crucial for the company’s success and a positive working atmosphere. How do you maintain the right balance in life? In short, through sport, music and family. Finding a balance to the rather static and intellectually demanding office and working environment is hugely important to me. Sport takes centre stage, both actively (previously very ball-based, now more ‘age-appropriate’ sports such as running, cycling and fitness) and passively (still ball-based, including a season ticket for the glorious Fortuna Düsseldorf).
I can also switch off brilliantly with my second great passion: music of the slightly heavier variety. This works particularly well at a metal concert or festival, or of course at home with a lovely vinyl record. Above all, of course, is my family, who ensure a positive balance in my life through mutual trust and shared activities. A holiday by the North Sea with long walks on the beach, a discovery tour by bike, or a sporty yet relaxing break in Mallorca’s magnificent south-east go a long way towards recharging my batteries.
