alphaport Credit Opportunities: Robust alpha through manager selection

After its first year, the alphaport Credit Opportunities (ISIN DE000A4150C2) has achieved its self-imposed target of delivering significantly better performance to investors than the broader credit market. As at 15 July 2026, net performance stood at 7.58 %, representing an after-cost outperformance of +4.83 % relative to the Bloomberg Global Credit Total Return Index, which returned 2.75 % over the same period (source: Universal Investment).

The alphaport Credit Opportunities fund currently invests in eight target-date bond funds, with a global allocation. The fund management currently sees the greatest opportunities in emerging markets, where 58 % of the fund’s assets are invested. This allocation is the result of a disciplined and careful manager selection process. The aim is to identify fund managers who achieve above-average risk-adjusted returns in their respective market segments.

The fund of funds is managed by the consultancy firm alpha portfolio advisors GmbH, based in Kronberg im Taunus. For over 28 years, the company has advised exclusively institutional investors, particularly on the structured selection of managers in liquid asset classes. Through the alphaport Credit Opportunities fund, this long-standing institutional selection expertise is now also available to retail investors.

“We are convinced that sustainable investment success in the bond sector is achieved primarily by selecting the right managers and the most attractive market segments. The substantial alpha relative to the index that we achieved in the first year shows us that our approach creates genuine added value,” says portfolio manager Florian Hertlein. “At the same time, as consultants, we are able to acquire target funds on very favourable terms. Our market position, with over EUR 35 billion in assigned mandates to date, helps us in this regard,” adds portfolio manager Dr Marc-André Göricke.

Just one year after its launch, the fund already has assets under management of around EUR 175 million.
